It's the property to form a protective oxide layer that makes Tantalum Alloy Coils very resistant to corrosion by most acids. However, they have an acidity problem with hydrofluoric acid and molten alkalis. It has a melting point only exceeded by tungsten and rhenium, again pointing toward the unique properties of tantalum under extreme conditions.
